The 2009 World Series of Poker is now underway and after all the hype the past couple months I’m just glad that the events are finally underway now. Many of the world’s best poker players will be spending the next month in Las Vegas at the Rio and it’s sure to be an action packed month of June with tons of WSOP events taking place. I’m also sure that there will be plenty of nice cash games taking place in the casinos when there aren’t any WSOP tournaments being played.
Yesterday the WSOP kicked off with the $500 Casino Employees event which is an event to reward the casino employees every year for the hard work they do. The major events won’t be starting until later in June, but many of the smaller events will be starting over the next few days at the Rio. This year at the World Series of Poker there is going to be a record breaking fifty-seven bracelet events being played which is more then any other year in the past.
The Casino Employees event seen 866 players from around the world start on day 1, but by the end of yesterday there were only 81 players left in the event. The players will be finishing up the tournament today so by tomorrow morning I will have posted about who won the first bracelet of the 2009 WSOP. Make sure you bookmark the blog because I will be providing daily coverage of every single WSOP event as it takes place. If you’re looking for up to date 2009 WSOP news then this is going to be the place to be.
